The USA PATRIOT Act: We railed against it when Bush was in office. We rightly mock the Tea Party members who say they love the Constitution but vote to keep it around. But in less than 90 days, Congress stands to reauthorize surveillance powers of the Patriot Act.
Right about now seems a good time to protest.
When: Saturday, March 12. Noon to 2 pm. Where: West side of the Capitol Building on the National Mall, Washington DC.

There's a hearing going on right now in the Judiciary Committee about Patriot Act reauthorization. But the closest thing to a liberal they're inviting to testify on the Patriot Act is Julian Sanchez from the Cato Institute, and the table is otherwise stacked with War on Terror authoritarians.
If we want to make a loud voice heard against the Patriot Act, it isn't going to come from within the halls of power. We'll have to speak up ourselves.
